Good Time Had By All At Motcombe Fete
Despite the weather a good time was had by all who attended Motcombe Village Fete last Saturday.
The fete was formally opened by Mr Ben Dunhill, Headmaster of Port Regis School and chairman of the Parish Council, Mr Alistair Leask, was MC for the afternoon.
Heavy showers during the afternoon didn’t stop the major arena events taking place on time and visitors were treated to performances by The Wessex Highlanders, the Mere Falconry Display, the Sapphire Twirlstars and the Solent Dog Display Team.
Stalls and sideshows provided good places to shelter and the teas in the Pavilion did a roaring trade. Cakes, jams, plants and bric-a-brac, as well as beauty products, fudge, bottles and dog food made up some of the many things available to buy so nobody had to go home empty handed.
Throughout the afternoon musical entertainment was provided by the David Walton Quartet and the Bare Jams (music students Ollie and Sam).
The photographic competition provided a display of almost 60 images in the main hall with Peter Crump and Richard Walker winning the adult classes and Sally Cannon and Henry Cannon winning the junior classes.
The fete was organised by the Fete Sub-Committee of Motcombe Memorial Hall, chaired by Bob Chimley, and the £1,300 plus proceeds from the fete go towards the upkeep of the hall and grounds.
